Founded in 1974 by Doug Veneris, Steelrod is a proudly Australian owned (based in Queensland) family operated company.

Doug's two sons, Damian and Shawn, became Directors of the company in 2005. Since this time they have continued to strengthen the solid reputation established by Doug and have built the company to one that is well known and respected throughout the railway industry for its quality of service, efficient meeting of deadlines and superior product. Steelrod is regarded as a specialist in all aspects of railway track and signal engineering.

Steelrod started out with 1 workshop back in 1987 and have since expanded to two (2) machine workshops and three (3) fabrication workshops all situated in Sodium Street. Steelrod boasts full CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) machining capabilities, and prides itself on using the best and most up-to-date technology, including the use of robotic welders. Our three (3) fabrication workshops cater for light to heavy fabrication projects and propel the company above its competitors in this field.

Acknowledging Steelrod's solid reputation, the company was awarded with the sole Australian distributorship for the anti loosening Hard Lock Nut.
